Workshop: Using the Enneagram in Therapy and Spiritual Direction
Drawing on the resources of both secular and sacred wisdom, the Enneagram
is a valuable aid in guiding people to their best selves. It describes the
high side of the person with its adaptive cognitive, affective, and action
schemas as well as the low side of the personality with its not-so-adaptive
stereotypical thought, feeling, and behavioral patterns. The Enneagram points
out shifts that occur in the psyche under relaxed and stressful conditions and
suggests ways to access under-utilized aspects of the self. Through input,
video, and group interaction, therapists and spiritual directors are invited
to share insights and interventions using this fascinating system.
Note: prior knowledge of the Enneagram through reading or workshops is
presumed.
