WORKING WITH OUR INNER CHILD VULNERABILITIES

Every human being shares common human needs such as those for self-consistency, esteem, acceptance, and relationship.  If these basic needs are met, then higher needs for self-actualization and self-transcendence come to the foreground.  If these basic needs are not met, then they remain figural and our energy gathers around them to get them met or to protect us from experiencing the vulnerability that arises when they are not met.  Paradoxically, we are most sensitive around those areas that we highly value, where we are naturally gifted and proficient.  We develop compensatory strengths around our areas of primary vulnerability.

Through input, reflection, and dialogue, this workshop will explore the following personality dynamics from the Enneagram perspective:

bulletThe values each style is attracted to and energized by
bulletThe primary vulnerabilities of each style—what each is particularly sensitive about
bulletHow each style over-compensates for its vulnerability –the strategies employed to assure we won’t be hurt the way we were in the past
bulletMisperceptions that arise due to our hyper-sensitivities
bulletHow the strategies of each style bring about the very thing we’re trying to avoid
bulletThe basic needs of each style
bulletHow we can more effectively get what we need and want
